Sam said recently in the pastemagazine article that they didn’t go through with bard’s lament at the end bc at the time they didn’t know if they would get another season so they didn’t want to potentially end the series on an angry/bitter note, but if more seasons get greenlit he has plans to honor it in some way… But that just makes me wonder how they’d honor/develop it in the future if he’s already with his daughter now

Oh I didn't know about this!! So that makes sense, even if it still unfortunately doesn't explain why most of Vox Machina didn't have any reaction about Scanlan being brought back..

And I also wonder how they would make bard's lament happen in later seasons? would it really make sense to have them reunite and then have him leave again?

The only thing I can think of is something like Scanlan asking for the others' help and the others refusing, so they fight he leaves for good, but it would be so out of character for them and also I imagine the separation would be way too definitive in this case... so yeah I have no idea really
